Peter Pan Restaurant In Oakland Park Is Hit By Truck

Monday night it wasn’t “tinker bell” or the gang from Never Neverland, who hit the Peter Pan Restaurant in Oakland Park.  It was a rental truck that crashed into the establishment.

Peter Pan restaurant located at 1216 East Oakland Park Boulevard near North Dixie Highway is open 24 hours.  The incident happened at 11:30 p.m.  Damage is currently being assessed at the restaurant.

Broward Sheriff’s Office is investigating the cause of the accident.  The owner of the restaurant Peter Kourkoumelis said the driver fled on foot leaving his injured passenger in the truck.  The passenger was bleeding and appeared to have suffered a minor cut on his head.

The Oakland Fire Rescue Department and Broward Sheriff’s Office were on the scene shortly after the truck crashed into the restaurant’s large exterior overhang in the front of the building.  The owner Kourkourmelis’s white Toyota RAV4 was partially crushed by the fallen overhang.

Kourkekourmelis said, “Thank God nobody got hurt.  That’s the main thing.  Everything else is only money.

The business is opened today serving breakfast as the debris is being cleaned out.
