Florida Elder Abuse And In Other States Seem To Be On The Rise. What Do I Look For When Evaluating A Facility For My Relative?

Elder abuse in Florida and other states is on the rise.  Female seniors seem to be more abused than the male senior population.

When evaluating a Florida nursing home for your loved one it is important to be observant on the surroundings.  Things to observe would be:

  • Condition of the facility
  • Number of staff
  • Cleanliness of the nursing home
  • Physical and psychological condition of the seniors
  • Does the staff promptly follow up with a need for the senior
  • Is a RN on staff at the location

One of the biggest complaints of nursing homes is that the home residents are neglected or have witnessed another resident being neglected.

Most nursing homes are understaffed and are not performing their duties for the well being of the senior.  If the senior is scared or intimidated by the staff or attendant they may be reluctant reporting any abuse.

When you are looking for a nursing home in Florida, be sure and talk to some of the senior residents and observe them. Find out their opinion of the nursing home facility and treatment they are getting.

Once you have found a nursing home for your loved one and find later there has been elder abuse you need to contact a Florida nursing home attorney who can evaluate the situation.  Immediate removal of your loved one must be done and compile any notes or activities regarding the abuse.
