Fort Lauderdale Settles Wrongful Death Case With Family of 2007 Auto Accident Victim

A Fort Lauderdale wrongful death case that resulted from a car accident in 2007 has been settled, according to Brittany Wallman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel online. On March 29, 2007, 49-year-old Donald Perry was killed when he was struck on Sistrunk Boulevard by the police cruiser of Fort Lauderdale Police Detective Christopher Young-Tem. According to Wallman, Dectective Young-Tem was responding to a call when the collision occurred, and Perry suffered a severed leg in the accident and was killed due to the crash. Although Young-Tem was cleared of wrongdoing in the auto accident, city commissioners of Fort Lauderdale met privately Tuesday and then took a public vote to settle the wrongful death case. As a result, Donald Perry’s relatives will receive $65,000.00 from the city of Fort Lauderdale.
