The Associated Press recently reported that Donte Stallworth, wide receiver for the Cleveland Browns (though currently suspended), admitted to having taken four shots of tequila before driving in Miami and hitting a pedestrian. Stallworth explained to police in a recorded interview that he and some other friends met at a club in Miami Beach, where he drank the shots, then went to his condo for a nap before getting behind the wheel again to go to breakfast. On his way to breakfast, Stallworth struck the pedestrian, who died from the accident. Although the professional football player said he did not feel drunk or impaired at the time, lab tests revealed his blood-alcohol level to be .126. Florida’s legal limit is only .08. The wide receiver is currently serving a 30-day jail sentence which followed his guilty plea to DUI manslaughter.
