The Florida wrongful death attorneys for International Polo Club Palm Beach owner John Goodman want his wrongful death civil trial put on hold until after his criminal trial takes place. The 46-year-old Palm Beach businessman, who has been accused of causing a fatal hit-and-run drunk driving accident, believes that the evidence form the civil trial could be used to convict him of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
Goodman was allegedly driving home drunk at 1:00 in the morning on February 12, 2010, when he ran a stop sign and broadsided a car. He left the scene of the accident and did not report the car accident for over an hour. The car he hit flipped upside down in a canal, causing the driver, 23-year-old Scott Wilson of Florida, to drown. Wilson’s Palm Beach wrongful death lawyer believes that the wrongful death settlement could reach $100 million.
Palm Beach Circuit Judge Glenn Kelley will decide whether or not to delay the wrongful death civil case this week.
