Fort Lauderdale School Bus Accident Injures Seven Children

Fort Lauderdale families experienced a scare Tuesday morning when hearing reports of a school bus accident involving two other vehicles that injured at least seven children, according to David Smiley of the Miami Herald online. Police reported that the collision occurred around 9:25 a.m. on Riverland Road when a Mercury rear-ended a silver Mazda, forcing the Mazda forward into a Broward County school bus. The bus was stopped at a traffic light at Riverland and U.S. 441 and was transporting students from Pine Ridge Education Center when the crash occurred, resulting in minor injuries for some of the children passengers. No serious injuries have been reported, but the seven injured students were taken by ambulance to hospitals for the treatment of back and neck pain. According to the CBS 4 website, four of the injured were taken to Plantation General Medical Center, and the other three were transported to Broward General Medical Center.

We hope that all students recover quickly and receive proper care for their injuries. In three-vehicle accidents such as this, victims often raise questions regarding liability. Although the Mercury is likely at-fault for rear-ending the Mazda, the Mazda could be partially liable for the accident if it did not allow enough room between itself and the bus when sitting at the red light. If you have been injured in an accident and have questions about liability, please feel free to call our law firm. We handle bus and car accident cases throughout Fort Lauderdale and the state of Florida, only represent the injured, and offer a free consultation. Call 954-807-1334.
