The parents of 2 year-old Haile Brockington finally found a church that’s large enough to accommodate everyone who wishes to attend their daughter’s funeral. According to the Sun Sentinel, the child’s funeral service will be held at 1 pm Saturday at Cason United Methodist Church, 342 N. Swinton Avenue, Delray Beach. Burial in Delray Beach Memorial Gardens at 700 SW Eighth Ave will follow.
Haile’s parents have decided to exercise their rights to file a wrongful death suit against Katie’s Kids Learning Center in Delray Beach and Amanda Inman, 31, of Boynton Beach. It’s hard to imagine any parent who wouldn’t make the same decision.
Haile Brockington died last Thursday in a van located outside Katie’s Kids Learning Center where she attended day care. The child had been left in the van for approximately six hours while temperatures soared to 91 degrees. The Sun Sentinel reports that according to the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner’s Office, autopsy results confirmed that Haile died from heat stroke. Amanda Inman of Boynton Beach is the driver of the van.
State workers as well as detectives are still investigating the circumstances that led to Haile being left in the van. No arrests have been made.
In a tragic situation such as this, it’s virtually impossible to imagine what the victim’s family members are going through. For Haile’s parents, other relatives and loved ones, nothing can every replace this child or remedy the loss they’ll struggle with for their rest of their lives.
