An early morning auto accident in Miami Beach today resulted in fatality for an airport shuttle van passenger from Columbia, according to the Miami Herald. Police reported that the accident between a police cruiser and the shuttle van occurred at the intersection of 71st St. and Abbott Ave before dawn today, closing that section of the roadways until 10:00 a.m. According to the Herald, a surveillance camera captured the police cruiser crashing into the van, which caused the van to veer off-course, but the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation. Following the collision, shuttle passenger Rodolfo Bautista-Olivares, 79, required transportation to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he died from injuries sustained in the crash. The police officer and his criminal passenger both sustained minor injuries in the Dade County accident.
