After 16 years on the job, Miami-Dade firefighter Ricky Rodriguez has only seen something like this one other time: a visit at the station from a man whose life he helped save. In a tragic auto accident with a truck on July 4, Rafael Rios was thrown from his motorcycle (along with his 15-year-old cousin), which put him in a coma for three days and in the hospital for nearly a month. Thanks to Ricky Rodriguez and other paramedics in North Miami Beach, who arrived on the scene within three minutes, Rios and his cousin survived the serious crash. This Wednesday, Rios visited Fire Station 31 to thank them personally for saving his and his cousin’s lives. The reunion was a happy but tearful one.
