Worker Loses Arm in North Lauderdale Accident

A mid-40’s man is recovering after undergoing surgery for a severed arm while working at a waste water pumping station in North Lauderdale.    The man was reportedly conscious and taken to Broward General Medical Center where surgery was performed.

According to Jennifer Johnson, a spokesperson for the city of North Lauderdale, the worker who was employed by Butler National Services was at the pumping station at Hampton Pines Park when his arm was severed about mid-wrist below his elbow.

Curt Beadle, president of Fort-Lauderdale- based Butler National Services Inc., visited the man in the hospital.  The name of the man has not been released at this time pending notification of the man’s relatives.

Butler National Services has provided maintenance and management of the city’s wastewater pumping station for many years.

The accident is being investigated by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
