Utility Worker Dies Along Bradford County Road

On February 4, 2011, an accident involving a van and a utility worker for AT&T occurred Friday morning. According to Bradford County Sheriff’s Office, the AT&T worker was working at the base of a utility pole when a van hit him.
The Florida Highway Patrol indicated that the accident took place on State Road 100 near Starke where the 29-year-old AT&T technician was working on a utility pole. Reports indicate that the worker was on the south side of the road in Bradford County when the van collided into him.
Troopers said the vehicle that collided into the AT&T worker was a 2000 Plymouth van that was being driven eastbound by 49-year-old David M. White, of Florala. They indicated that it appeared the driver went off the road and onto the south shoulder. He proceeded to hit Jason D. Wisham, the AT&T technician from Palatka, and then smashed into the rear of Wisham’s work van.
Wisham was severely injured and was transported to Shands at the University of Florida in Gainesville, where he succumbed to his injuries and died.
A full investigation is being conducted and charges against White are pending the outcome of the investigation.
We are saddened to hear of this tragic Florida work accident turned fatality. We would like to offer our thoughts and condolences to the family, co-workers, and friends of Jason D. Wisham.
