Truck Driver Dies From Exiting His Wrecked Semi on I-75

Posted on Apr 14, 2011

On Friday, April 8, 2011, a fatal South Florida truck accident occurred on Interstate 75. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 6 a.m. Friday morning.

Lucas Joseph Folino, a 36-year-old truck driver from Fort Lauderdale, was driving his semi truck southbound early Friday morning when he jackknifed his tractor-trailer. According to officials, Folino crashed into the back of another big rig and jackknifed into the median.

He attempted to exit his truck and cross I-75; however, due to the darkness of the early morning another driver, who was traveling north on the highway, hit him. The Florida Highway Patrol said that Folino died at the scene of the accident.

According to officials, there have been many motorists who have been killed as they have attempted to exit their vehicles on Florida highways. In fact, this is the fourth time in the last several months that someone died on a South Florida highway on foot, after they have exited their vehicles and were hit by a moving car.

The Law Offices of David Benenfeld would like to extend our condolences to the family and friends of Lucas Joseph Folino.
