On Monday, January 31, 2011, a three-car crash occurred in Coral Springs, Florida. The Coral Springs Police said that the accident occurred after 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon near NW 87th Avenue and Wiles Road.
Authorities said that a 2001 Buick driven by 65-year-old Raymond Carmody, of Coral Springs, was traveling westbound on Wiles Road. He made a left turn onto NW 87th Avenue when his car was hit by a Dodge, sending it into another vehicle. The force of the collision was so strong that the Buick collided with a Toyota, a third car.
Carmody’s car was struck on the passenger side. Sadly Gwendolyn Hall, his 6-year-old granddaughter, died instantly as she was sitting in the rear passenger seat.
Police and fire rescue officials reported that the damage to the three vehicles was severe, and the drivers involved had to be extricated. All three drivers were sent to area hospitals with injuries.
Carmody and 27-year-old Benjamin Colon, of Fort Lauderdale, driver of the 2005 Dodge, were taken to North Broward Medical Center and were reported to be in serious condition. Delma Iris, the 40-year-old Toyota driver, of Fort Lauderdale, was transported to Coral Springs Medical Center in stable condition.
Police reported that it appears that the Buick may have pulled out into the path of the Dodge; however, the cause of the South Florida car accident is still being investigated.
We are saddened to hear of this tragic loss and send our condolences to the family and friends of Gwendolyn Hall. Also, we wish tall the victims a full and fast recovery.
