President of Florida Marlins Tries to Save Accident Victim

While merging from Interstate 595 onto Florida’s turnpike, Wednesday, David Samson the president of the Florida Marlins, was forced to slam on his brakes. Ahead of him he witnessed a green Ford F-150 pickup that had crashed into a parked red utility truck. The truck belonged to a company that was cutting grass alongside the highway.
The pickup’s cab was crushed. As Samson jumped out of his vehicle, he joined forces with the driver of the utility truck to try and free the driver Michael Paul Rush age 53 from Plantation.
Samson said” I immediately stopped and ran to the car, and we tried to save the man’s life, and we couldn’t.”
Davie Fire Rescue had to use the Jaws of Life to cut away the collapsed metal to free Rush. It was too late.
Samson said he had never done anything like this. He said, “There were some very gracious volunteers and citizens who stopped, and we tried to save his life and we couldn’t do it.”
