Pompano 6-year-old Hit On His Scooter Improves

Posted on Feb 05, 2012

The public awaits and is anxious to hear about the recovery of Robert Glover Jr., a 6-year-old kindergartner at Margate Elementary School.  The family has indicated that the young boy still remains in critical condition but is expected to survive. His grandmother Geraldine Glover said he was alert but was under heavy sedation.

Robert was struck while riding a motorized scooter on the sidewalk by an out-of-control car on Sunday.   The accident occurred near the corner of Northwest 5th Avenue and 8th Street in Pompano Beach.

Involved in the crash were five other people who were treated and released from a local hospital.

Information by the fire rescue indicated that Marcus Permenter, 28 of Pompano, was driving a 1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass northbound on Northwest 5th avenue.  The vehicle ran a stop sign and hit a Toyota Camry driven by Chiledric Jacques, 51, of Pompano Beach and his three passengers.

The driver of the Oldsmobile hit a fence, struck the 6 year child, hit a parked minivan, pickup truck and a tree before the vehicle stopped.

The driver and three passengers of the Toyota were treated and released as well as the other driver, Permenter from the North Broward Medical Center.

Currently the Traffic Homicide Unit is still investigating the accident that can take up to 180 days.

The Law Office of David Benenfeld would like to wish Robert Glover Jr., a speedy recovery and encouragement for his family while going through this tragic situation.
