Palm City Crash Kills Two Women

Two women were killed last Sunday in a car accident in Palm City. A savings account has been set up for the surviving children and the memorial service was held last Thursday.

The two women, Lynda Kruse, a 23-year-old Port St. Lucie resident and Tiffany Russell, a 24-year-old officer with the Juno Beach Police Department, were killed after their vehicle did not properly negotiate a curve, veered off Southwest Citrus Boulevard and flipped over. They were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident and were ejected from the vehicle, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

They left behind two children, a fiancée and boyfriend, as well as numerous friends and colleagues. One of the women’s friends, Shannon Andrews, has established a savings account for their children at SunTrust Bank. The accounts are set up for 2-year-old Hailey Troutman, who is Russell’s daughter and 4-month-old Landen, Kruse’s daughter. Donations are being made in the names of the children or their fathers, Jeff Read and Chad Troutman. Read was Kruse’s fiancée and is a police officer with the Stuart Police Department. Troutman was Russell’s longtime boyfriend and is a police officer with the city of Okeechobee.

Andrews met Russell when she was studying to be a police officer at Indian River Community College. She met Kruse through Kruse’s fiancée. Both women were bridesmaids at Andrews’ wedding.

“I couldn’t imagine my wedding without them in it, and it’s going to be hard to look at my wedding photos,” Andrews said. She is the lead teller at the SunTrust Bank in the Sea Plum Center in Jupiter.

A memorial for Russell was organized by the Juno Beach Police Department, where Russell began working in August 2007. The memorial was held last Thursday at the Oceanview United Methodist Church. Russell was buried in Maryland.

The funeral arrangements for Kruse had not been finalized at the time of the article.
