Retired Professional football player Lawrence Taylor, known to many fans as LT, is facing a lawsuit regarding a possible hit-and-run accident that took place last year on the Palmetto Expressway. While Taylor argues that he was seeking safe harbor away from the dangerous shoulder of the highway, 51-year-old Manuel Villari Castillo, the driver he hits, says that Taylor fled the scene of the Florida car accident and left him injured for life.
Castillo is seeking damages in regards to the Miami-Dade car accident, in which he claims Taylor was speeding and driving recklessly. Castillo, an air condition repair man, says that he suffered “bodily injury including a permanent injury to the body as a whole, pain and suffering of both a physical and mental nature, disability, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, inconvenience, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, aggravation of an existing condition, expense of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, loss of earnings, loss of ability to earn money and loss of ability to lead and enjoy a normal life."
Taylor pulled over a few miles from the accident on an exit ramp and claims he was about to call 911 when a police officer pulled him over to ask him about the damage to his car. A car black box recorder says that Taylor was traveling about 80 miles per hour at the time of the car crash – though the Palmetto Expressway has a speed limit of 55 miles per hour at the site of the FL car accident.
