Multiple South Florida Crashes Kill Five People

It was a deadly day across South Florida on June 23, 2011. Three fatal accidents took place early Thursday morning on Interstate 75 and Interstate 95.
A pickup truck was traveling in the wrong direction on I-75 and hit another car head-on. Walter Webb, of Zephyrhills, was driving his pickup southbound in the northbound lanes around 1:20 a.m. Witnesses called 911 to report the wrong way driver near Royal Palm Boulevard in Weston; however, he struck another driver head-on before police could get to him. He collided with a 2011 Cadillac driven by Marcos Goya, of Lima, Peru. Sadly, both Webb and Goya were killed in this head-on collision.
Just moments prior to this deadly crash, another fatal accident on I-95 occurred near Southwest 10th Street in Deerfield Beach. This crash involved a 2005 Toyota 4Runner that struck a concrete bridge-support surface and caught on fire. Police believe the driver lost control of the car. Both he and his passenger died at the accident site.
I-95 and I-75 were both shut down for several hours in Broward as police investigated the crashes and cleaned up the accidents.
A third fatal wreck occurred around 5:45 a.m. on Thursday in Miami. A commercial pickup truck driver veered left on Coral Way and struck a median. He lost control and his truck plowed into a tree. Richard Sterk, 45, of Miami died at the crash in the 1800 block of Coral Way.
