Man from Lauderdale-by-the-Sea Motorcycle Accident Dies

Five hours after a Tuesday night motorcycle crash in Pompano, the driver of a homemade motorcycle died.  The accident happened on West Atlanta Boulevard after a car crashed into the motorcycle.

Michael Laughman, 50 from Lauderdale-by-the-Sea was identified as the motorcyclist by the Broward Sheriff’s office.  The cause of the accident is being investigated by the Homicide investigators.

Laughman was driving east at approximately 9:18 p.m. traveling near the speed limit of 45 mph.  He hit the right side of a Honda driven by Diedre Watson of Pompano Beach as she was turning south onto Northwest 21st Avenue.

Watson 30 was not injured.  The Pompano Beach Fire Rescue took Laughman to North Broward Medical Center where he died at 2:36 a.m., five hours after the accident.  

The Broward Sheriff’s Office traffic investigators are investigating the accident and are asking for anyone that has information regarding the accident to call the Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
