Ft. Lauderdale Settles $97K Slip & Fall Case

Fort Lauderdale city commissioners have settled with the Canadian woman whose husband died after tripping over an uncovered water meter.  The couple had been walking back to their hotel during a vacation in 2005 when the 65 year old man tripped over the meter in the sidewalk.

The man fractured his right knee and was flown back to Canada for surgery.  A week later, he had died from complications.  The city has agreed to pay the widow $97K in compensation for the loss of her husband.
