On Tuesday, June 14, 2011, a Fort Lauderdale pedestrian accident occurred, just nine days after a fatal pedestrian accident happened in the same city. This accident was located at the intersection of Northwest 19th Street and Northwest 29th Avenue.
According to Fort Lauderdale emergency officials, a pickup truck hit a mother pushing her toddler son in a stroller. The accident occurred around 10 a.m., injuring both the mother and her son. They were both rushed to Broward General Medical Center for medical treatment of their injuries.
The woman was described as a 22-year-old and the son is a 13-month-old boy, both residents of Fort Lauderdale. Police did not release their names in order to protect their privacy, and there is no word on their medical condition at this time.
Witnesses said the scene was scary. The mother was complaining of neck pains, as well as stomach and leg pains. And, the toddler had a large knot on his head and was crying; however, both victims were conscious.
Lauderdale Lakes resident Innocent Tanelus, 63, was the driver of the Ford F-150 pickup truck involved in this crash. He said that he was not driving fast, and witnesses indicated that he stayed on the scene after the accident.
He has not been charged for this accident at this time, as the accident is still under investigation.
The Law Office of David Benenfeld would like to wish the mother and son a full and speedy recovery.
