A teen driver is being charged in connection with a fatal Florida hit-and-run crash. The teen has had seven traffic citations since 2005 and also faces a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge that was issued only 11 days before the fatal Florida car crash that killed a 45 year old woman.
The teen has been released from jail after he turned himself in to the Florida Highway Patrol troopers and posted a $15,000 bond. He is being charged with a felony for leaving the scene of an auto accident involving a death. The fatal traffic collision occurred after the teen was driving home from his girlfriend’s house when he hit the pedestrian who was walking along the road.
The teen’s attorney has not seen a certified copy of the boy’s record and needs to review it to determine what impact it may have on the hit-and-run case.
Court records also show that the teen was cited in June 2006 for violating his restricted driver’s license. This charge was dropped after prosecutors decided not to pursue the case. Adjudication was withheld for the teen driver in three of his traffic cases after he took defensive driving classes. Two of those citations were for speeding and one was for an improper right turn.
Three other traffic citations were resolved after the teen paid his fines. Two of those traffic tickets were for speeding and one was for an improper U-turn.
