Fatal Broward County Fire Crash Kills Driver on I-95

John Lee Wilcox, 74, of Deerfield Beach was identified as the driver that was killed in a fiery crash on Interstate 95 in Deerfield Beach.
A northbound tractor trailer lost one of its rear tires that bounced over the wall to the southbound side and hit a blue car causing a chain reaction. The vehicles behind the blue car were a pickup truck and a gray car that was driven by Wilcox.
Wilcox struck an Oldsmobile that was in front of him and then was struck by the pickup truck. Wilcox’s car then burst into flames where he was killed. One other person driving the blue car was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash forced the closure of several Southbound lanes on I-95 during the morning 6:00 a.m. commute.
