Elderly Pedestrian Dies in South Florida Hit-and-Run

On Wednesday, May 4, 2011, a tragic pedestrian accident occurred in Palm Harbor, FL. Officials indicated that the deadly accident occurred Wednesday evening around 5:40 p.m. in north Pinellas County.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal accident took place just south of the intersection of Tampa Road and County Road 1. Initial reports indicated that police were looking for a white vehicle that struck an elderly male pedestrian and drove away.
Florida Highway Patrol later released information indicating that they identified 29-year-old Laura Marie Santoro, of Holiday, as the driver who struck the elderly pedestrian.
The pedestrian, who has not been identified at this time, was initially taken to Mease Countryside Hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Palm Harbor Fire Rescue was on scene to transport the victim to the hospital.
