Wednesday afternoon, an elderly couple was hospitalized with serious injuries after a teenager ran a red light” and crashed into the couple’s vehicle in suburban Boynton Beach.
Investigators say in a report that Alexander Worrall, 18, of Boynton Beach was traveling south on Military Trail in a Ford sport utility vehicle when he “failed to stop for a red light at the intersection of Old Boynton Beach Boulevard.
Worrall struck a Hyundai driven by Maurice Gartman, 85, whose wife Evelyn Gartman, 82, was seated beside him. The couple was taken to Delay Medical Center with serious injuries. They live west of Boynton Beach.
Palm Beach County Fire Rescue worked to free the elderly man and woman from the car. A third person who authorities did not release their name was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Sheriff investigators are awaiting the results of toxicology testing on Worrall to determine if he was driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Law Office of David Benenfeld would like to wish Maurice and Evelyn Gartman a full and speedy recovery as well as the third injured party.
