Dade County Police Officer & Civilian Injured in Car Accident

Posted on Mar 25, 2010

A Dade County car accident involving a patrol car and another vehicle injured a Miami-Dade Police officer and a civilian Tuesday evening, March 9, according to the Fwix news website.  Police officials reported that the officer, who was on-duty at the time of the collision, was responding to a call when another vehicle collided with its patrol car.  Although the crash was still under investigation at the time of the report, it was known that the civilian driver of the other car complained of back pain and was taken to a local hospital.  The Miami officer was taken to Baptist Hospital as a "precautionary measure," according to the article, and his patrol car was severely damaged.

Since this officer was on duty at the time of the Dade County crash, he may be able to file a workers' compensation claim for any medical bills and other expenses related to injuries caused by the crash.  What's unique about Florida workers' comp. is that negligence and fault are not required in order for an injured employee to file a claim.  As long as a worker is injured on the job or while performing work-related tasks, a claim for compensation may be filed.  For more information on Palm Beach, Broward, and Dade County workers' compensation or auto accidents, contact us online or by phone (toll free) at 866-943-5766.  We will answer your questions for free with no obligation to you.
