On January 26, 2011, a construction worker was seriously injured when he fell in Hillsboro Beach, FL. This Florida construction accident occurred Wednesday morning around 9:30 a.m., according to police reports.
Police indicated that the construction worker was on-the-job in the 900 block of Hillsboro Mile, when he fell about eight feet and landed on a steel railing. According to Deerfield Fire Assistant Chief Gary Fernaays, the railing pierced through the construction worker’s abdomen and thigh.
Paramedics arrived on the scene to find that the 36-year-old construction worker was conscious and was already removed from the railing. According to police, the unidentified man was seriously injured and was taken to North Broward Medical Center.
He was last listed in serious condition, and his name has not been released.
It is unclear at this time if the construction worker was wearing his safety harness and gear. It is also unknown what contributed to the fall.
Police as well as the U.S. Occupational Safety Health Administration (OSHA) are investigating the accident.
The Law Offices of David Benenfeld would like to offer our best wishes to the injured construction worker and wish him a full and speedy recovery.
