Broward County Transit Bus Rear-Ended by Tanker Truck

On July 5, 2011, according to officials, a Broward County transit bus on northbound U.S. 441 near Margate Boulevard was rear-ended by an empty Urbieta gasoline tanker truck that left 25 people injured.
 
The Broward County truck crash occurred in Margate, a suburb of Fort Lauderdale and according to officials the accident happened at about 9:00 a.m. The Broward County bus that was rear-ended by the tanker truck was filled with passengers.

Twenty-two people were taken to area hospitals by rescue crews to be examined for injuries. One of the passengers appeared to have suffered serious injuries and was taken to a trauma center at North Broward Medical Center

At the scene of the accident three other passengers were treated for minor injuries. The drivers of the bus and tanker truck were not injured in the crash.

There is a continuing investigation going on by authorities to determine the cause of the accident.
