On May 31, 2011, a woman drove her car into a building in Pompano Beach around 7:15 a.m. and took off. According to the Broward Sherriff's Office, this Tuesday morning South Florida crash took place at an apartment complex in the 3500 block of Northwest Fifth Terrace.
28-year-old Angela Garcia, of North Lauderdale, was driving the dark blue Chrysler Sebring that crashed into the apartment building.
Witnesses say that before she drove into the building they saw two women arguing with each other, and Garcia was one of the two arguing. A witness saw her get into her vehicle and drove away, but she returned within a moment and drove her car toward the other woman's car. The other car, a Ford F-150 moved out of the way, but Garcia was unable to stop since she was driving so fast. She then skidded about 50 feet and crashed into the front of the apartment building.
Garcia drove away from the accident scene with major front-end damage to her car and with her air bags deployed. Police found Garcia driving near the 200 block of Northeast 31st Street after the incident and arrested her. The Broward Sheriff's Office charged her with leaving the scene of the accident.
A baby was in the room where the car crashed into the building. Although the baby did not appear injured, the infant was taken to an area hospital to get checked out as a precaution.
The Law Office of David Benenfeld would like to wish the baby and the baby's family well during this time, we extend our best to all those who were involved in this accident.
