On Wednesday August 3, 2011 a Fort Lauderdale woman and her two children were injured and sent to the hospital after the tire of her SUV separated.
The Florida Highway Patrol reported the right tires separated causing the car to flip several times when Tahesha Knight, 33, was traveling northbound on Interstate 95 and was a half mile from State Road 206.
According to FHP the tires separating caused Knight to lose control of her 1997 Ford Explorer, which began to overturn.
The report said that Knight and her 9-year-old daughter were not wearing seat belts at the time of the accident and the 9 year old was ejected from the SUV and later airlifted to Shands Jacksonville with serious injuries.
Knight's 8-month-old baby was in the rear passenger seat and restrained by a child car seat. Both Knight and the baby received minor injuries and were taken to Flagler Hospital.
