Authorities Searching for DUI Driver in Fatal Oakland Park Car Accident | Broward County Wrongful Death Lawyer

Following a fatal Broward County auto accident on I-95 on March 27, 2009, the at-fault driver was treated for injuries by paramedics and let go by troopers despite his illegal act of drunk driving, according to a local website.  Now, over a month later, authorities are unable to locate 31-year-old Davydson Soares, who is wanted for manslaughter.  According to the site, troopers were reportedly waiting for more information before filing criminal charges against the DUI driver, due to standard DUI manslaughter procedures in South Florida.  While authorities occasionally make arrests at the accident scene or soon after a crash, most officers have been trained to avoid making an immediate arrest in order to allow more time for investigation.  Upon reviewing the Oakland Park accident, the Florida Highway Patrol says that Soares faces three "DUI involving serious bodily injury" charges, two counts of property-damage related DUI charges, charges for driving on the wrong side of the interstate and without a valid drivers' license, and DUI manslaughter.
